Terry Benton (Basketball, 1969-72)

One of the great rebounders in Shocker history .

  • He was the Missouri Valley Conference rebounding champion in two of his three varsity seasons .

  • His 29 rebounds against North Texas State in 1971 still stood as a Shocker record at the time of his induction .

  • He also grabbed 28 caroms that season against Loyola-Chicago .

  • He picked off 20 or more rebounds in a game 11 times in his career .

  • His 16.8 rebounding average in 1970-71 remains the best in Shocker history .

  • He was also a productive scorer in his junior and senior seasons when he averaged better than 16 points a game .

  • He compiled six 20-point, 20-rebound performances in his career .

  • Only Xavier McDaniel had more .

  • He scored 1,003 points and shot 50 percent from the field for his career .

  • Also a feared shot-blocker .

  • He recorded seven blocks against Kansas State in 1970 .

  • One of only four Shockers to record a "triple-double" when he scored 20 points, grabbed 22 rebounds and had 10 assists against Tulsa in 1972 .

  • Named first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference in 1971 and '72.
