Rex Coad (Tennis, 1973-78; Tennis Coach, 1980-88)A dominant figure on the Shocker tennis scene for 15 years as a standout player and highly successful coach .
His 104 career singles victories stand as a Shocker record .
Named the teamıs Most Valuable Player in 1975, 76 and 78 .
Captured the Missouri Valley Conference singles title at the No. 5 position in 1978 .
His victory helped the Shockers to the first of 11 consecutive conference team championships .
Teamed with Mark McMahon to qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championships in 1978 .
Posted 69 career doubles victories .
After serving two years as assistant coach, he took over the menıs program in 1980.
His first team went 24-0.
Guided the Shockers to MVC championships in all nine years of his coaching career .
Compiled a 152-83 coaching record .
His Shocker teams were represented in the NCAA Tennis Championships five consecutive years from 1980-84 .
