Rod Nuckolls (Golf, 1977-80)One of the star products of the Shocker golfing program, Rod Nuckolls led Wichita State to consecutive Missouri Valley Conference championships in 1977, Ś78 and Ś79 and claimed league medalist honors in 1980. He three times qualified for the NCAA Golf Championship, placing 17th in 1978. He was named honorable mention All-American in 1978 and Ś79, and earned third-team honors in 1980. After graduating from Wichita State, Nuckolls played five years on the Professional Golf Association Tour, earning three top 10 tournament finishes, before returning in 1985 to head the Shocker golf program as coach. In his first season he guided the Shockers to the Missouri Valley Conference championship and was named MVC Coach of the Year. In 1987 he was named head professional at Willowbend Golf Club in Wichita. Inducted, 1990.
