Head Coach Butch Davis
"Thereʼs no easy way to look at a performance like this. I told the players, 'I said I donʼt think we could have gotten off to a much poorer start than we did at the start of this ball game.'"
"We struggled in just about all three phases. You know field position, turnovers during the course of the game. Offensively the time of possession thing is becoming a little bit of an issue because you know football teams have to be somewhat synchronized and until you get synchronized to where the offense is having some success and maintaining some possession time and some drives and gives the defense a chance to recover."
"Three-and-outs puts the defense back out there. Theyʼre playing way too many plays and way too many plays almost back to back in a row and you know when you turn the football over and you donʼt keep the ball for very long it just puts a lot of strain on your defense."
"We thought that we would come out and maybe attempt to try to maybe speed the tempo up a little bit. Weʼve had some success in some of the other ball games with a little bit of the two minute drills and stuff. Thatʼs a great plan if it works but if it doesnʼt and you go out there and throw three incomplete passes and you use up 11 seconds the bad news is that your defense is back out on the field."
"For our football team to get better we have got to become two things. We have got to become more multi-dimensional on offense. We can not rely solely on T.J. Yates going out and expect him to throw for 350 yards a game and 3 or 4 touchdowns and everything is going be hunky dory because the schedule gets tougher, teams start to look at you and they start to develop a personality and they donʼt respect you. You turn it into a one dimensional game and it makes it much, much more difficult to throw the ball into blitzes and man coverages and loaded zones."
"Hopefully at the end of the ball game we anticipated playing Ryan Houston, in the ball game, regardless of the score. It was by coincidence it got to where it was. We wanted to get Ryan Houston into the game and we worked him during the course of the week and maybe thatʼs a little bit of a shock. I mean we saw some things late in the ball game from him and maybe that will add a little bit of dimension to this offense."

"We've got to fix ourselves. They played a great game and capitalized on opportunities and we have to get back to work on Monday, or tomorrow."
"We played the whole game. We played tough but we made too many mistakes to keep ourselves in the ball game and thatʼs something we have to keep working on."
"I didnʼt really get to see what all he did, but I was pumped for him and he did a good job. He got the first touch down under his belt and it's exciting. But one touchdown isnʼt enough. We've got to get back to work and we have to be more consistent with everybody."
#32 Ryan Houston
"Picking up blitzes is the hardest thing because people they just donʼt straight out blitz. It's all fast paced. Everything is going faster than high school. You've got to get up your speed. I think we did ok and I think we can always do better.
(On if he knew if he was getting into the game)
"No sir. Last Sunday coach said just be ready when I call your number, you may play this game, you may not. I donʼt really go into the game thinking Iʼm going to play every time so I just wait back and stay ready on the sideline."
"I think I can help a lot with the running game. Everybody would like to see T.J. (Yates) throw like 350 yards every game and Iʼm just trying to come in and compliment that. I just want to help out the passing game and make it easier for TJ to throw."
# 9 Marvin Austin
"I think Iʼm getting better. Iʼm just trying to get better every game and take this team to the next.
(On executing when being down late in the game)
"You've got to. Thatʼs when your character shows. You've got to keep fighting, keep fighting. Thatʼs what you do. Personally, Iʼm not a quitter. I never want to be looked at as a quitter. One thing you can't question is my character."
#13 T.J. Yates
"I thought we ran the ball pretty well but USF played a heck of a game. Theyʼre real fast as a team. As a whole they've got a lot of fast guys. Their corners are fast and their defensive line was coming off the ball hard. They were putting a lot pressure on me."
(On the crowd noise)
"I was yelling as loud as I could to get that signal call but those fans were really loud down there. They did a heck of a job, I couldnʼt hear anything. Yeah it made a difference. We had a delay of game call because the lineman couldnʼt hear me."
(On how physical the game was)
"That was the most physical game Iʼve been in. I took some shots in that game. They did a good job of blitzing us and staying on us. I've got to learn from my mistakes."
