WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - BREAST CANCER AWARENESS DAY - FEBRUARY 17, 2006
Along with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), the Iona College Athletics Department has joined the fight against breast cancer. On February 17th Iona partnered with the Young Survival Coalition (YSC) to educate and raise money for breast cancer awareness during the Women’s Basketball home contest against Marist College.
Throughout the game an information table was set up for fans that attended the game. Members of the Iona College Women’s Lacrosse team collected donations form spectators in support of YSC and the fight against breast cancer. This event was successful in raising awareness in addition to over two hundred dollars to help fund research. With support from YSC and other non-profit organizations, Iona College Athletics and the MAAC will continue to support the fight against breast cancer.
The Young Survival Coalition is an international network of breast cancer survivors and supports dedicated to the concerns and issues unique to young women and breast cancer.
