Hodge qualified for the 2006 and 2007 U.S. Amateur, finishing in the top 16 in 2006, and the 2008 U.S. Amateur Pub Links...finished second at the 2008 Dogwood Invitational and 2006 True Temper Classic (Tenn. PGA/low amateur) and tied for sixth at the 2006 Tennessee State Open...made it to the third round of match play at 2008 North and South Amateur (Pinehurst No. 2) after finishing fifth in stroke play...two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year (2007, 2008)...ranked in the top 20 in the world in the R&A Amateur Golf Rankings in Summer of 2008...played in Jones Cup prior to start of Spring season...holds school records for scoring average in season (71.41, 2007-08), season wins (3, 2007-08), par/better rounds season (21, 2007-08) and career (64, rounds played in a season (38, 2008-09) and career (148), counting scores in a season (35, 2007-08) and career (129), while tying for career wins (three) with Bryce Ledford.
Best finish came in the Mocs signature win at the Carpet Capital Classic where Hodge tied for second place shooting three-under par 213...opened the season with tying for 10th at the Aldila Scenic City Invitational with a six-under par 210...finished 15th at the Western Refining Collegiate All-American at one-under par 215 ...received a sponsor’s exemption to play in the Nationwide Tour’s Chattanooga Classic missing the cut...tied for 13th with Ben Rickett at the Brickyard Collegiate...played steady shooting one-under par with three par or better rounds at Administaff Augusta State Invitational...10 par or better rounds, three in the 60’s, with a four-under par 68 leading the way at the Aldila Scenic City...25 of his 35 team rounds counted.
Hodge repeated as Southern Conference Player of the Year...six top five finishes in 13 events with school record three wins...led the squad with 21 par/better rounds and tied for team lead (Freddie Qvicker) in top 10s with six (all top 5 finishes)...second to Derek Rende with nine rounds in the 60’s...won at the Coca-Cola Duke Golf Classic in the Fall followed by titles at the Cleveland Palmetto Intercollegiate and Furman Intercollegiate...finished second-place at the VCU Shootout...shot three-under par 210 at NCAA East Regional...had a string of seven consecutive under-par rounds over a three-tournament span (-23)... best round of 67 was fired three times with the last coming in the final round to win the Cleveland Palmetto Intercollegiate...best tournament total was 12-under par 204 at the Coca-Cola Duke Golf Classic...led the SoCon in scoring average (71.41)...SoCon Golfer of the Week (3/12 & 4/2) and Golfer of the Month (March and May)...ranked 18th in Golfstat Cup and 26th in Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings Index...finished in the top 20 nationally in scoring average (17, 71.41), average compared to par (16, -0.24), first round scoring average (17, 71.15) and par 4 scoring (20, 4.04)...35 of his 37 rounds counted to the team score.
Had a fabulous year earning Southern Conference Player of the Year honors...seven top-10 finishes, five top fives with a best finish of tied for second at the SoCon Championship...had a scoring average of 72.70...had 17 par or better rounds while scoring in the 60’s six times...low round of 67 (-5) at the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate...low tournament score of 212 (-4) at the Linger Longer Invitational...had a run of five straight par or better rounds...35 of 37 rounds counted to team score...ranked third nationally (of 1837) in pars per round (11.89)...finished the year ranked No. 87 nationally.
First-team All-Conference selection...had five top-five finishes...got off to a flying start in his career with back-to-back 68’s in his first tournament, the Mid-Pines Intercollegiate, where he finished tied for third at eight-under par...best finish was runner-up at the Re/Max UTC Fall Classic...second-best stroke average (73.69) on the squad...set a new school record with 16 par or lower rounds...carded in the 60’s four times...34 of 36 rounds counted to team score.
2003 Tennessee Junior Amateur Champion and runner-up in 2004....finished sixth at AJGA event at the
Won the TSSAA AAA State Championship as a senior leading the Patriots to the team title....region champion as a sophomore and senior....led JCHS to four straight district and conference championships, along with back-to-back region titles....graduated with Honors and was a member of the Beta Club.
Born Sept. 27, 1986 in Knoxville, Tenn.....son of Greg and Wendy Hodge....mother played collegiate golf at Middle Tennessee....has a brother Chris and sister Sarah....dad and grandfather, Jerry, are both Class A members of the PGA....majoring in physical education.
