Four-year letterman for Georgia Southern's basketball and baseball teams... Played key role in the Eagles' success from 1960 to 1964... Born April 17, 1943 in Augusta, Georgia... Outstanding pitcher for the Georgia Southern baseball team under direction of J.I. Clements... Helped Eagles to 80-42 record during 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964... Member of the 1962 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship baseball team... Pitched 10-inning shutout in Eagles second round 1-0 win over Winona State in the 1962 NAIA National Tournament... Played in 85 games at forward for the Eagle basketball team under coach J.B. Scearce... Team was 58-57 during his career... Helped Georgia Southern to post-season play three of four seasons... The 1964 squad advanced to the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City after District 25 Tournament wins over Valdosta State and Jacksonville... Averaged 4.9 points (419) and 3.8 rebounds (322) during Eagle career... Made 155-of- 358 field goals for a 43.3 percentage and also converted 108-of-159 free throws for a 67.9 percentage...
