STATESBORO, Ga. -- With today's Southern Conference announcement of the television partnership, almost all the times for Georgia Southern's 2011 Football season are now set. Times for the first two and last two home games remain as previously published with the Tusculum (Sept. 10) and Western Carolina (Sept. 24) contests kicking off at 6 p.m. and the Presbyterian (Oct. 22) and The Citadel (Nov. 5) games set for a 2 p.m. start time.
The 2011 campaign opens at Samford with a 7 p.m. Eastern time kickoff on September 3rd, followed by two games at Paulson Stadium. Georgia Southern and Tusculum meet for the first time on September 10th with a 6 p.m. start time for the home opener. The 6 p.m. start time remains unchanged for the September 24th SoCon contest against Western Carolina.
The Eagles travel to Rhodes Stadium for an October 1st matchup against Elon that is set for 1:30 p.m. Georgia Southern will play three straight home games after the Elon trip with Chattanooga on October 8th and Furman on October 15th. Both those games at Paulson Stadium are slated for 3 p.m. and will be part of the SoCon's television partnership with the public television networks in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The homestand ends with an October 22nd game against Presbyterian with a 2 p.m. kickoff.
After traveling to Boone, N.C., for a 3 p.m. showdown with Appalachian State, the Eagles return to Paulson Stadium to face The Citadel on November 5th. Game time for the 2011 Homecoming game is slated for 2 p.m. Georgia Southern wraps up SoCon play a week later as the team heads to Wofford on November 12th. The Terriers have set kickoff at 1:30 p.m. A time for the November 19th game at Alabama will not be set until 10 days prior, in accordance with Southeastern Conference broadcast rights.
