STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Men's Soccer kicked off the 2011 campaign with a two hour practice at Eagle Field on Tuesday, August 9th. Head Coach Kevin Kennedy led the team's first training session which focused on skill work and tactical understanding of the Georgia Southern system.
"I felt we were a little rusty today," Kennedy told Eagle Vision. "Fitness wise the guys are in terrific shape, but we wanted things to be a little cleaner technically. Once we went to a small field game at the end, the guys had a lot of fun and most importantly there was a lot of competition."
The Eagles reported to campus on Monday afternoon and completed fitness testing late in the evening. Prior to the opening training session on the field, the Eagles hit the Iron Works for strength testing before lunch and the 3 p.m. training session.
Georgia Southern plays host to a pair of exhibition matches before the regular season curtain raiser against North Florida on August 27th. The Eagles face USC Aiken on August 17th at 4 p.m. in the season's first friendly and Lander on August 21st at 2 p.m.
