STATESBORO, Ga  - The Georgia Southern Football team completed the first of four scheduled two-a-day sessions Tuesday with the second session being cut short by an early evening thunderstorm. The morning session had the Eagles in full pads with two sessions of offense vs. defense. The special teams also saw action in the morning session.

The afternoon session in shells saw another spirited workout which was ended four periods shy of the scheduled 18 due to a thunderstorm.

"We really do try to get out in the heat and I feel it really helps get our players acclimated because we will probably see some hot weather early in the season including the opener on the turf in Birmingham, " said Head Football Coach Jeff Monken. "Our guys have been training all summer long to prepare for these types of elements which will prepare us for the conditions early in the season. I thought we got some good work in and are improving but we have a long way to go."

"We want to have quality practices with good repetitions on both sides of the ball as well as special teams. The day off tomorrow will give our guys time recover and then we'll come back with another two-a-day session on Thursday. We will not have more than seven practices before taking a day off to keep the guys fresh both physically and mentally."

Fall camp continues on the banks of "Beautiful Eagle Creek" with the first of two Thursday sessions at 9 a.m.
