STATESBORO, Ga. - Fans of Georgia Southern are invited to join thousands of fans from across the country to celebrate College Colors Day on Friday, September 2nd. The event, in its fifth year, encourages fans to support their favorite team by wearing school colors the day before the college football season kicks off. Governor Nathan Deal has proclaimed Sept. 2nd College Colors Day in Georgia and Georgia Southern's mascot, GUS, will be a part of the proclamation signing ceremony on Tuesday, August 23rd at the Capitol.
The creator of College Colors day was a former Eagle, Tim Hawks, who attended Georgia Southern in the early 1990s before finishing his undergrad degree at Ole Miss. Hawks is a senior director at Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), the organization promoting the annual event.
Georgia Southern alumni and fans can show support for the traditions, spirit and sportsmanship of the University's intercollegiate athletics programs by wearing blue and white on College Colors Day. A poster for Eagle fans designed is available as a PDF attachment above or as a jpeg download on the official Georgia Southern Athletics facebook page at facebook.com/GSAthletics.
College Colors Day is timely for Eagle Football fans with the season opening matchup against the Samford Bulldogs the next day, Saturday, September 3rd. Tickets for the game in Birmingham are $15 each and are available online at GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com/tickets or by calling 800-478-9467.
