STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Football team returned to the banks of "Beautiful Eagle Creek" for its second two-a-day practice following a day off on Wednesday. The Eagles practice at 9 a.m. and again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 11th.

The morning practice featured full-pad contact and saw a number of periods of offense versus defense. The 16-period practice had a skelly session in between the two full-team sessions and featured special teams work.

"I think we got one good practice in this morning and a not-so good practice in the afternoon," said Head Coach Jeff Monken. "I think we have a good bunch of seniors and they will do a good job to get us ready for practice tomorrow."

In the afternoon session, the team worked in shells (shoulder pads and thigh pads) through 18 periods which included numerous water breaks and a ten minute halftime break. The Eagles tallied 20 minutes of offense versus defense following skelly sessions.

The Eagles return to the practice field on Friday, August 12th for a full pads workout starting at 2:45 p.m., a change from the previously announced schedule. All practice sessions on the banks of "Beautiful Eagle Creek" are open to the public.

Georgia Southern has 11 practice sessions remaining before the start of classes on Monday, August 22nd.

Coach Monken will sign autographs at the Harveys on Fair Road in Statesboro on Saturday, August 13th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Gus will also be in attendance at the event, presented by Harveys and Coca-Cola of Statesboro.
