STATESBORO, Ga. - Following a 2-2 start to the season, the Georgia Southern Volleyball team hits the road for four games this week including stops at Mercer and the Varney's Kansas State Invitational. The Eagles opened the year at home by hosting the five-team SpringHill Suites Invitational in Old Hanner Gym and will be playing their first road game of the year against the Bears on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The KSU Invitational opens on Friday with two games and wraps up with a single game on Saturday. GSU will face Kansas State in the first game at 1:30 p.m. EDT and BYU in the nightcap at 6 p.m. The Invitational wraps up with an 11 a.m. match against Idaho.

The Eagles will be visiting the home state of setter Kate Van Dyke (Shawnee, Kan.), who recently passed Susan Winkelman for fourth place with 2,558 career assists. Van Dyke has tallied 176 assists in just four games and has all but 31 of the team's 207 assists this season.

Over the weekend Georgia Southern dropped their first two games of 2011 in a pair of close hard-fought matches but rebounded on day two of the SpringHill Suites Invitational, pulling off a pair of 3-0 sweeps. The Eagles have won the first set in every match so far this year while Bethany Sanford (Avondale, Ariz.) has posted double-digit kills in all four matches.
