The “Voice of the Bison” on the radio for North Dakota State for 14 seasons from 1964 to 1978, he presided over the resurrection of Bison football. A colorful personality, penetrating interviewer, and one of the best-known master of ceremonies in the Upper Midwest, he has been involved in the radio and television business for the past 40 years. He was the sports director at WDAY in Fargo during his days covering the Bison and moved on as the Director of Public Affairs at Prairie Public Television from 1978 to 1986. Since 1986, Christenson has hosted radio call-in shows on WDAY (1986-1992) and KFGO (1993-1999). He was named the North Dakota Sportscaster of the Year three times (1968, 1969, 1973) and was inducted into the North Dakota Sportscasters and Sportwriters Hall of Fame in 1990.
