A two-time All-North Central Conference pitcher, Graner helped North Dakota State to one of its two league championships in 1969. That season he recorded a 7-1 record and set a league record in strikeouts. He established school records for season wins (7), career wins (17), career innings pitched (186 1/3), career strikeouts (207), career shutouts (4), and season strikeouts (89). He also held NCC records in career innings pitched, season strikeouts, and career strikeouts. He also earned one letter in basketball for the Bison. A native of Mandan, N.D., his family moved to Fargo where he attended Shanley High School and was the MVP of the Fargo American Legion baseball program and was the state Legion tournament MVP in 1967. A 1973 graduate from NDSU, he worked for Steiger Tractor for 18 years before relocating in Waukesha, Wis., in 1990.
