THE CONSTITUTION OF THE BRADLEY UNIVERSITY

B-CLUB

 

PREAMBLE

 

We, the members of the Bradley University Alumni “B” Club, hereby establish this constitution for the members of this organization.

 

ARTICLE I

 

Purpose: The purpose of this organization is to promote an ongoing relationship among the alumni letterwinners, to encourage a greater interest in Bradley University athletics and aid the athletic program financially and/or through volunteer service.

 

ARTICLE II

 

Members: Letterwinners shall be defined as student-athletes who have exhausted eligibility and who have earned at least one varsity letter during their careers as players or managers.  Active membership is attained via the payment of annual and/or lifetime dues.

 

ARTICLE III

 

Officers: The officers of this organization shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer, who shall be elected by the Alumni “B” Club Board of Directors.

 

ARTICLE IV

 

Board of Directors: A Board of Directors, for the purpose of formulating and executing the policies relative to this organization shall consist of a maximum of 16 members, elected for a period of one year on a renewable basis.

Ex-Officio Directors: The Bradley University Director of Athletics, Executive Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator, Senior Associate Athletic Director/Compliance and Financial Affairs, and Associate Athletic Director/Communications shall serve as ex-officio directors to enhance coordination of Club matters with the University’s Intercollegiate Athletic Department.

Authority and Responsibility: The authority of the “B” Club and control of its operation is vested in the Board of Directors.  The Board has responsibility for the policy, by-laws and program of work subject to review and approval by the President of Bradley University.

 

ARTICLE V

 

Amendments: Amendments to the constitution require a two-thirds majority of the directors.

BYLAWS

 

I

 

Membership Dues: There are three categories of membership to the B-Club.

1.         Regular B-Club Membership - $50 per year.

2.         Enhanced B-Club Membership - $100 per year.

3.         Life Membership - $2000 one-time payment.

 

Life Membership:Any member upon payment of two thousand dollars ($2,000) in a lump sum or pledged over a period of five years shall be issued a gold membership card which shall entitle said member and one guest to all Bradley University home athletic events.  (The $2000 fee will become effective November 1, 2007)

 

Upon payment of dues a member is entitled to special privileges to all Bradley University regular season home events.

 

Ticket Policy:

All B-Club members will received two free admissions to Soccer, Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball and Softball regular season games.  In addition, Life members will receive two additional free admissions. Men’s Basketball – Depending upon availability, the University reserves approximately 100 seats for each men’s basketball game played at the Civic Center.

a.         Regular Membership – May purchase up to 4 tickets at the reduced rate of $10.

b.         Enhanced Membership – May receive one free admission as well as purchase up to 3 tickets at the reduced rate of $10.

c.         Life Membership – May receive two free admissions as well as purchase up to 2 tickets at the reduced rate of $10.

Ticket will be available to eligible B-Club members up until 15 minutes prior to game time.

Admission is on a first-come-first-serve basis until ticket allotment is depleted.

 

Special Events:  All members of the B-Club will be entitled to admission to special invitation-only events such as pregame receptions and homecoming events.  In addition, members will be able to take advantage of a discount at the Bradley Bookstore.

Committees: The following committees shall be formulated by the President:

     Recognition Awards        Ron Harris

     Membership                   Bob Carruthers

     Tutorial Program             Ted Jones

     Special Events               Ron Harris

     Nominating                    Bud Grimm

Committees to assist at any other function not so listed but which may arise and in which the “B” Club may wish to participate.

Election and Term of Office: Officers shall serve for two years.  Directors shall be elected by the existing board to serve a term of one year.  They may be re-elected upon completion of a one-year term.  Directors must be members of the club, in good standing.

 

Meetings and Attendance Requirement: The President is empowered to call regular meetings of the Board.  Dates, times and venues will be designated by the President.  Special meetings may be called by the President or by written request of at least one-third of the directors.  For special meetings, each affected director shall be provided twenty-four hours notice. 

A director’s absence from two regularly scheduled meetings during any twelve-month period shall be cause for termination from the Board, unless the Board, upon recommendation from the Executive Committee (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer) deems the reason for the absences sufficient.  The President, or his/her appointed representative, shall notify a director of his/her absence obligation following two absences or when a director is within one absence of failing to meet the requirement.  It will be the responsibility of the President to notify a director of his/her dismissal from the Board for failing to meet the attendance requirement.  Directors are to notify the Athletic Department Receptionist or “B” Club President if they will not be in attendance. 

Duties: Robert’s Rules of Order shall govern the procedure of the meetings.  The President shall preside over all meetings.  The Vice-President shall act in place of the President in case of the President’s absence or inability.  The Secretary is responsible for recording and maintaining all proceedings and correspondence of the club.  The Treasurer is responsible for all financial matters of the club.  Other duties of officers may be delegated by the board. 

Meetings of the Bradley University Alumni “B” Club will be held when called by the President.  A quorum shall consist of a simple majority of the board members.  Official business requiring a vote shall be determined by a simple majority of the directors present.
