2009

  • Named to the ACC All-Academic Baseball Team
  • Appeared on the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the second year
  • Started all 59 games, including 37 in left field, 12 at first base and 10 as the designated hitter
  • A fixture in the heart of the order, hitting cleanup or third in all but four games
  • Batted .340 with 37 RBI and 43 runs scored
  • Slugged .510 on seven home runs and a team-high 20 doubles
  • Went 6-for-9 stealing bases
  • Hit .341 in the ACC and mashed five of his seven homers against conference competition
  • Knocked 44 hits in 30 ACC games
  • Led Duke with 25 multi-hit games
  • Had a team-high 21-game hitting streak from April 14 to May 22; ended the streak in the final game of the season
  • Also brought a 14-game hitting streak into the season and extended it to 20 games

  • Ranked 13th in the ACC with a .349 batting average that included 75 hits, 39 RBI and 33 runs scored
  • Knocked 12 doubles, one triple and four home runs for 101 total bases and a .470 slugging percentage
  • Led the team with a .325 average, 39 hits and 18 RBI against ACC opponents
  • Ended the season on a 14-game hitting streak, which tied for the second-longest on the team
  • Had multiple knocks in 19 games, including a pair of four-hit outings
  • Batted .425 (31-for-73) with runners in scoring position. Hit .431 (31-for-72) with two outs.
  • Had a hit in all but 12 games and went no longer than two games without a knock all season
  • Drove in two or more runs in eight games, including two four-RBI outings and two more three-RBI showings
  • Drew 14 walks and was hit by nine pitches to contribute to a .403 on base percentage, which was the third-highest on the team
  • Stole five bases in eight attempts
  • Made just one error all season, giving him a .991 fielding percentage
  • Made one appearance on the mound in relief, giving up one hit over a scoreless inning against Alabama A&M
  • Went 3-for-4 with four RBI, a double and a home run in the season opener against Iona (3/23)

  • Batted .299 in the Alaska Baseball League with the Peninsula Oilers and led the team in RBI, total bases and slugging percentage
  • Led the Oilers to the NBC World Series in Witchita, Kansas

2007

  • Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll
  • Started 18 games, including five at first base, four in left field, nine as a designated hitter and four on the mound
  • Made eight total pitching appearances
  • Batted .284 with 19 hits, 12 runs and nine RBI
  • Had five games with multiple hits, including three straight starts with two hits
  • Posted a .383 on base percentage and came up safe in all three of his stolen base attempts
  • Had a 6.91 ERA and an 0-1 record through 14.1 innings
  • Had a 0.00 ERA over his four relief appearances, all of which were against ACC opponents
  • Gave up just two hits and four walks through three innings out of the bullpen
  • Duke was 3-1 when he started on the mound
  • Played for the Denton Outlaws of the Texas Collegiate League during the summer ... knocked 21 hits to drive in 19 runs and score 10 times
  • Did not commit an error for the Outlaws in 92 chances
  • Also put together a 1-0 record as a reliever during the summer while holding opposing hitters to a .243 average

High School

  • Three-year letterwinner at Bellaire High School
  • Earned all-district honors all three years and All-Greater Houston accolades as a senior
  • Went 8-2 with a 0.60 ERA and 81 strikeouts during his senior season
  • Was 4-2 as a junior
  • Compiled a 7-2 record during his sophomore campaign
