Hempstead, NY -- Hofstra University Director of Athletics Jack Hayes announced today that EmblemHealth will be the presenting game sponsor of the October 25th football contest when the Hofstra University Pride host the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens at James M. Shuart Stadium.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. The game will mark the inaugural Hofstra Football Strides against Breast Cancer Day.

EmblemHealth and Hofstra Athletics have teamed up to raise funds for the American Cancer Society (ACS) throughout the month of October during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The first 1,000 fans on October 25 will receive pink rally towels, courtesy of EmblemHealth and ACS.

Hofstra's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will help raise funds by selling pink Hofstra paper footballs throughout the month of October that will be posted around Shuart Stadium the day of the game.  SAAC will also assist selling specially designed Hofstra Pride t-shirts. One dollar per ticket of game day sales as well as 100% of the revenue generated from the sales of the paper footballs and the t-shirts will support the American Cancer Society.

"Hofstra Athletics is very pleased to partner with EmblemHealth in this way," said Hayes.  "The efforts to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society within the framework of EmblemHealth's presenting game sponsorship is one in which we are happy to support.  We believe that the October 25 game is a unique platform to provide more attention to the fight against cancer."

"With one in four women at risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, we are proud to sponsor this event with Hofstra as part of our efforts to support ACS in the fight against this disease," said Anthony L. Watson, Chairman and CEO, EmblemHealth.
