WEST HARTFORD, Conn.-- Third-seeded Boston University defeated No. 2 Vermont in the first double overtime game in tournament history, 76-74, to advance to the 2008 America East Women's Basketball title game at Chase Family Arena. The Terriers will play top-seeded Hartford for the conference crown on Sunday, March 16 at 5 p.m. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Earlier in the evening, the Hawks upended fourth-seeded Albany, 60-40, for the right to play in their fourth-straight America East Championship final. This is the third time in four years that these two squad will meet for the trophy, and the fifth time in six years that the Terriers have played in the championship title game.

Hartford and Albany went back and forth for the better half of the first stanza, but the Hawks took a six-point lead into the intermission. Hartford pulled out in the second half, ending the game on a 13-2 run. Hartford senior Danielle Hood finished with a game-high 18 points and nine boards. Sophomore Erica Beverly and junior Lisa Etienne also scored in double figures, 15 and 10 points, respectively.

Albany's Gia Sanders finished her career with a 13-point effort to go along seven rebounds and three steals. Rookie Janea Aiken posted 12 points.

Boston University and Vermont played in the fifth overtime game in tournament history, and the first double-overtime America East Championship contest.

Senior Cheri Raffo put up a game-high 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Junior Amarachi Umez-Eronini notched 19 points, while classmate Jesyka Burks-Wiley finished with 18 points and four steals.

Junior Amy Rosenkrantz led the Catamounts with 21 points. Junior Kelli Poles grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Championship Game will air live on Comcast SportsNet at 5 p.m. Eric Frede and Leah Secondo will have the call.
