Year Inducted

A chronicler of North Dakota State and North Central Conference athletics for 43 years, the NCC was only four years old when “Fitz of the Forum” started writing about league action. Fitzgerald compiled Bison and NCC records and statistics in the early years, at a time when few, if any schools or newspapers were maintaining such files. He joined the staff of The Forum in May 1926 and was named sports editor in 1930, holding that post until 1964. In 1963, NDSU presented the first Finnegan Achievement Award to Fitzgerald, while in 1968 he became the first man outside of the official NCC family to be inducted into the league's Hall of Fame.
