Jacobson was a two-sport performer for the Bison in basketball and volleyball and a four-year letterwinner in both sports, earning all-conference honors three times in basketball and once in volleyball. Jacobson captained the Bison teams that advanced to the final four in both volleyball and basketball her senior seasons.

The eighth leading scorer in NDSU women's cage history with 1,419 points (12.8 ppg), she also ranked in the top 10 on several career charts including field goals, free throws and rebounding.

A native of North St. Paul, Minn., she had a stellar career in three sports in high school. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from NDSU in 1982 and her master's of education from St. Mary's University in 1998.

The head volleyball coach, assistant basketball coach, and assistant track coach at Tartan High School in Minnesota, she guided her volleyball teams to five league championships, three region titles, and has been the region coach of the year three times.
