The glue of the 1981 North Central Conference basketball champions, he was a four-year starter for the Herd on the hardcourt and the eighth leading scorer in school history when he graduated.

He played in a then-record 114 games for NDSU, setting career school records in free-throw shooting percentage at .835 and assists with 513. He still holds the school marks for career free-throw percentage and single-season free-throw percentage when he hit 37 of 41 free throws for a .909 percentage in his freshman year.

Driscoll scored a career-high 31 points against Division I Oral Roberts in a memorable 109-102 road loss in Tulsa, Okla., where he hit from virtually every angle in dominating the game. His best scoring campaign was his junior year when he averaged 13.9 points. He finished his career averaging 10.2 points per game and 5.9 assists per contest.

A native of Fargo-Moorhead, he played prep ball at Moorhead High where he was the school's all-time leading scorer averaging 22.7 points per game as a senior and was a candidate for Mr. Basketball in Minnesota. He set 13 school records.

Two older brothers, Pat and Tom, were basketball standouts for the Herd in the early 1970s. Mike and his wife, Tari, have two boys and two girls, and he farms northeast of Glyndon, Minn.
