Airheart starred in football and track for the Bison. He led the 1964 football team in scoring, was most valuable offensive back in the school’s first postseason game in 1964, and was the first Bison drafted by both the National Football League and American Football League in 1965. He was the most valuable trackman two years and held the North Central Conference 440-yard dash record with a time of 47.7 seconds. Airheart went on to become the head track coach and assistant football coach at Romeoville (Ill.) High School.
