Named to the All-North Central Conference baseball team in three seasons (1968, 1969 and 1970). Led the NCC in earned run average in 1968 (0.58), wins in 1970 (5) and strikeouts in 1970 (60). Compiled a 15-8 mound record at NDSU with a school-record ERA of 1.44. Helped the 1969 Bison team to the league title and a second-place NCAA regional finish. Paced his Bison clubs in at least 10 different pitching categories over his three varsity seasons, topping team in wins in both 1968 (6-1) and 1970 (5-2). Also a two-year letterman in basketball. He attended the UND Medical School and Texas Tech School of Medicine before entering the U.S. Army Medical Corps in 1974.
