MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Idaho Cross Country/Track & Field program is thrilled to announce the signing of distance athlete Maizy Brewer from Sammamish, Wash.

Brewer has been a multiple all-state performer in the state of Washington at Skyline High School. During her junior year she finished sixth in the state championship cross country race at the 4A level. She has also finished 11th both during her sophomore and senior seasons at the state cross country meet. Brewer was the highest senior finisher in the 2015 race.

She has a personal best of 18:04 in the 5000m over a cross county course. Brewer holds personal bests on the track of 5:02 in the 1600m and 10:50 in the 3200m. She has been coached by a Vandal Alum Kevin Merkling at Skyline HS.

“Maizy is the true triple threat when it comes to character, academics, and athletics, excelling in all three. She possesses the talent and work ethic to do great things here at Idaho. We are extremely excited to have her join the Vandal family,” said Tim Cawley, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country.

Brewer is an incredible student and will enroll in the honors program at the University of Idaho. She plans to study exercise science and/or biology.
