MOSCOW, Idaho – Chessey Thomas joins the University as the assistant women’s golf coach.
A 2014 graduate of the University of Tennessee, she is from Spokane, Wash., where she was a four-year starter on the Lewis and Clark High School team.
“Chessey brings a great deal of enthusiasm to our program,” coach Lisa Johnson said. “We're grateful that she has chosen return to her family roots in the Northwest and help guide the Vandals. She is a talented player with experience competing at a high level in college golf. The team will benefit from her knowledge, leadership and golf expertise.”
Thomas has an impressive playing career that includes second-team all-SEC honors and a stint on the Symetra Tour. During her UT career, she had 15 top-25 finishes and four top-10 outings as well as four regional and two national tournament appearances.
She comes to Idaho from Manito Golf and Country Club where worked extensively with the junior golf program and gave private lessons. This past spring, she was a tournament operations intern with the American Junior Golf Association.
